2020 Vision / Surgical Mission Report
In February before Covid-19 was a concern, SOS Medical Teams traveled to Joyabaj to offer Eye Care to many Maya. In the Vision Clinic we served 738 patients, prescribed 198 pair of prescription glasses, dispensed 289 pair of sunglasses and 217 pair of reading glasses and made 51 Medical Referrals. The following week, our Surgeons performed 69 cataract surgeries and 20 pterygium surgeries. By Divine Providence and Home Team Prayer coverage 38 Missioners safely returned home on March 7th ‘ one week’ before ALL flights were canceled. (Your Prayers made the difference!!!) Unfortunately, the Summer Faith Sharing Mission had to be canceled.
